SPACES Degree College (Autonomous), Payakaraopeta, successfully organized an informative and insightful guest lecture titled “Stock Market 101: The Basics and Beyond” on 29 December 2025. The programme was organized by the Department of Commerce and Management Studies for the benefit of B.Com and BBA students, with the objective of enhancing their practical understanding of financial markets and investment practices.

The guest lecture was delivered by the esteemed alumnus of the institution, Mr. D.V.S.T. Krishnam Raju (B.Com, 2016–2019 Batch), who is a SEBI Registered Investment Advisor. Drawing from his professional experience in the investment sector, the speaker provided an in-depth overview of stock market fundamentals, including the functioning of financial markets, types of securities, risk and return concepts, and the role of regulatory bodies. He also elaborated on various investment strategies, portfolio diversification, and the importance of informed decision-making in trading and long-term investing.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating through questions and discussions. Practical examples, real-time market scenarios, and case studies were shared to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. The lecture helped students gain clarity on emerging trends in the stock market and created awareness about career opportunities in areas such as investment advisory services, equity research, portfolio management, and financial planning.

The programme proved to be a valuable learning experience, offering exposure beyond conventional classroom teaching. It motivated students to develop financial literacy, analytical thinking, and a responsible approach towards investments. The event also highlighted the significance of alumni engagement in academic enrichment.

Department of Commerce and Management conducted a Guest Lecture for its students on “Stress management” on 16th September, 2024. The speaker of the day was Challa Lovaraju, Msc(Psychology), M.Ed., P.G.D.G.C., P.G.D.C.A., NET (Edu.), SET (Psy & Edu), elucidated the important steps on  “Stress management”.  He extensively covered the fundamental concepts in general psychology and explained Sigmund Freud’s theory of personality structure comprising the Id, Ego, and Superego, psychopathology, shedding light on abnormal behaviour patterns, biological clock. Mr. Challa extensively covered stress management. Using real-time examples, he illustrated the impact of stress on individuals, making concepts relatable. He suggested one book called developmental psychology given by Sigmund Freud.  He also highlighted the consequences of unmanaged stress, including eating disorders and cardiovascular diseases, and stressed the importance of developing healthy coping mechanisms to mitigate stress, providing valuable insights into human behaviour and stress management.
The guest lecture was so informative and conversative. All the students got benefited from the lecture.

On September 18, 2024, SPACES Degree College conducted an entrepreneurial promotion session for BBA and B.com students, featuring Sri Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Span Foods. The session aimed to inspire students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path.

Mr Rajesh Gupta’s Span foods pioneers the use of Instant Foods in institutional canteens all over India. Today his company is manufacturing more than 20 products ranging from south Indian snack to North Indian sweets and catering to more than 100 corporate kitchens like Tata motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Sodexo, Bajaj auto etc. all over India.

Sri Rajesh Gupta delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the thrill and opportunities entrepreneurship offers. He emphasized that entrepreneurs not only support their own families but also contribute to society by generating employment for others. He said, "Entrepreneurship starts with one spark of an idea,". To succeed, he stressed the importance of developing essential business skills, particularly Observation and Marketing skills. Mr. Gupta also acknowledged the crucial role of banks and financial institutions in supporting entrepreneurs.

He shared the story of Mr. P.C. Mustafa, who started ID Fresh Foods Company from a humble 50 sq. ft kitchen with idly batter in Bangalore, showcasing how entrepreneurs can achieve greatness from small beginnings.

Dr. A.R.K. Reddy, Principal of SPACES Degree College, thanked Sri Rajesh Gupta for his invaluable insights. He assured that the management would provide necessary resources to support students in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
