Visit to KVIC – Grama Swarajya Sangh, Tuni – A Practical Insight into Management Concepts

On 26th November 2025, the students of I BBA and I B.Com from SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) visited KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) – Grama Swarajya Sangh, Tuni. The visit was organised as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the college and the organisation.

The primary objective of the field visit was to provide students with practical exposure to small-scale industries and to relate the theoretical concepts of Principles of Management & Business Organisation and Management with real-time industrial practices.

During the visit, the students were guided by Mr. G. Satyanarayana (Secretary, KVIC), Mr. Pokala Srinu (Spinning Section In-charge), and Mr. R. Prasad (Auditor), who comprehensively explained the khadi production process and various operational aspects of the unit. The officials highlighted that the processes involved are skill-based and reflect India’s cultural and heritage values. Students were encouraged to promote khadi and understand the importance of village industries in supporting sustainability and locally-driven business models.

The students were able to connect theoretical principles of management with practical industrial applications. They understood the role of coordination, planning and leadership in running an organisation effectively. They also gained insights into small-scale industry operations, sustainable business models and entrepreneurship, realising that management is not only about profit but also about preserving heritage, supporting artisans and promoting rural employment.

Overall, the field visit significantly contributed to experiential learning. The interaction with the officials enhanced the students’ understanding of how small-scale industries function and inspired them to explore entrepreneurship in similar sectors. The college extends its gratitude to KVIC and its management for the opportunity.
