The NSS symbol is based on the "Rath" wheel of the Konark Sun Temple situated in Odisha.

The navy blue colour indicates the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.

The Red colour in the badge indicates that the NSS volunteers are full of blood i.e. lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit.

The giant wheels of the Sun Temple portray the cycle of creation, preservation and release, and signify the movement in life across time and space.

National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched during 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. NSS is an extension dimension to the higher education system to orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions. It is being implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is "NOT ME BUT YOU".

The NSS Unit of this college is established in 2004 with the strength of 100 volunteers. Present this college is having two NSS units in campus conducting many activities for welfare of college and society.

The NSS wings of SPACES Degree College, Payakaraopeta play an active role in conducting various extension activities.such as

• Awareness rallies on adverse effects of smoking and consumption of alcohol

• Sanitation programs like Swachh Bharat, Swachta Hi Seva Hai in college and adopted villages.

Apart from all these programmes, the NSS volunteers  take part in all the cultural competitions, Inter collegiate cultural Festival, NSS Youth Festival and also participate in National Integration Campus.

NSS Students of SPACES Degree college have represented the state  in Pre-Republic Day parade and Republic Day parade.

Special Camps are conducted regularly in adopted villages.Various extension activities are carried out during the special camps,which not only benefit the people of the village but also help in the all round development of the students.
