The Department of Agriculture, SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) organized an interactive session on “Untapped Opportunities in Agriculture” with the objective of enhancing students’ awareness of emerging academic and career prospects in the agricultural sector. The programme was designed to expose students to contemporary developments and future opportunities beyond conventional agricultural practices.

The session was delivered by Mr. Ch. Bhavani Sankar, Master of Agricultural Biotechnology, who is presently working as a Research Executive at The University of Queensland, Australia. A proud alumnus of SPACES Degree College (Batch 2015–2018), Mr. Sankar’s interaction with students was both inspiring and informative, reflecting his academic journey and professional experience at the international level.

Addressing the I B.Sc. Agriculture and Rural Development students, the speaker shared valuable insights on the expanding scope of agriculture, highlighting areas such as research, biotechnology, higher education, and global career opportunities. He emphasized the need for students to develop a research-oriented mindset, strengthen subject knowledge, and acquire relevant skills to meet the changing demands of the agricultural sector.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the question-and-answer segment, seeking guidance on career planning, higher studies, and research opportunities. The speaker’s practical suggestions and real-life experiences helped students gain clarity and confidence regarding their future academic and professional paths.

In recognition of his contribution, Dr. A. R. K. Reddy, Principal, and Dr. A. K. Tripathy, Head of the Department of Agriculture, felicitated Mr. Ch. Bhavani Sankar with a Book Memento as a token of appreciation. The programme was attended by the faculty members of the Department of Agriculture, whose presence contributed to the success of the event.
