An Anti-Ragging Committee Initiative: “Awareness Program on Ragging-Free College Campus”

On 12 December, SPACES Degree College (A) organized a special awareness program on promoting a ragging-free college campus. The program was conducted by the College Anti-Ragging Committee in association with Ms. B. Prasanthi, Sub-Inspector of Police, Hanuman Junction, Krishna District, with the aim of sensitizing students to the serious consequences of ragging and reinforcing the importance of a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic environment.
During the session, Ms. Prasanthi clearly explained what constitutes ragging and highlighted the various forms of behavior that are legally prohibited under anti-ragging laws. She elaborated on the psychological, emotional, and physical impact of ragging on students and stressed that even seemingly “minor” acts can have severe legal implications.

The Sub-Inspector also educated students about their rights in cases of ragging, including the right to complain without fear, the protection available to victims, and the strict punitive measures enforced against offenders. She informed students about the role of the police, college authorities, and anti-ragging committees in ensuring student safety, and encouraged them to report any incidents immediately through proper channels.

The program was interactive and informative, enabling students to gain a clear understanding of the legal framework related to ragging and their responsibilities as members of the campus community. The session concluded with an appeal to students to uphold mutual respect, support one another, and actively contribute to maintaining a ragging-free and inclusive college campus.
