A Capacity Building Workshop on “Outcome Based Education (OBE) under NEP-2020: CO - PO Mapping and Their Attainment Calculation under Autonomous Framework” was successfully organized for the faculty members at SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) on 14th May 2026 (Thursday). The workshop was conducted with the objective of strengthening faculty understanding of Outcome Based Education, curriculum planning, and attainment procedures under the autonomous academic framework. The workshop was graced by eminent resource persons from St. Joseph’s College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam — Dr. P. Mary Anupama, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. E. Harini, Selection Grade Lecturer & Head, Department of Zoology; and Dr. P. Rosina George, Assistant Professor in Zoology. The distinguished speakers shared their expertise and provided deep insights into the practical implementation of OBE in higher education institutions.A total of 34 faculty members participated in the workshop and greatly benefited from the sessions. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting the institution’s commitment towards academic excellence and continuous faculty development. The faculty members actively engaged in discussions and gained practical understanding of OBE implementation under the autonomous framework. The sessions were highly informative, interactive and meticulously delivered. The resource persons explained every aspect of CO-PO Mapping, attainment calculations, and OBE practices in a very minute and systematic manner, ensuring clarity for all faculty members. Complex concepts related to curriculum outcomes, assessment strategies, and attainment measurement were simplified with practical examples, making the sessions highly beneficial and easy to understand. The participants found the workshop extremely insightful and went away with enhanced knowledge, practical clarity, and confidence in implementing OBE practices effectively.All the three speakers deserve special appreciation for their exceptional delivery, clarity and dedication in achieving the objectives of the workshop. Their engaging presentations, patient explanations, and willingness to clarify doubts reflected their profound subject expertise and commitment towards academic excellence. The workshop significantly enhanced the faculty’s understanding of OBE implementation and its importance under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. The Management of SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) deserves heartfelt appreciation for organizing such a valuable and timely faculty development initiative. Their continuous efforts towards academic quality enhancement and professional development of faculty are truly commendable. The workshop served as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building among educators. The faculty members expressed their sincere gratitude to the esteemed resource persons for their insightful sessions and valuable guidance. A heartfelt vote of thanks was extended to the college management, organizing committee, and everyone involved in making the workshop a grand success. The event concluded on a positive note, leaving all 34 participating faculty members academically enriched, motivated, and empowered with a deeper understanding of Outcome Based Education practices.

A Two-Day National Level Workshop titled “SciQuest: Exploring the Universe” was organized by SPACES Degree College(A), Payakaraopeta, under the aegis of Sri Prakash Educational Society. The workshop was conducted on 27th and 28th February 2026 with the theme “IKS for Sustainability – Innovate Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.” The event aimed to promote scientific thinking, innovation, and sustainable development among students by integrating the wisdom of the Indian Knowledge System with modern scientific practices.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. Kantipudi Narendra Babu, President of Sri Prakash Educational Society. The Chief Patron was Ch. V. K. Narasimha Rao, Secretary and Correspondent of the society, and the Patron was Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary. The event was convened by Dr. A. R. K. Reddy, Principal of SPACES Degree College.

The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. A. K. Tripathy, Head of the Department of Biochemistry and IQAC Co-ordinator, who served as the Organising Secretary. The Program Co-ordinators included S. M. V. S. Kumar, Head of the Department of Computers; K. Nagabhushanam, Head of the Department of Chemistry; and Ch. Mangatayaru, Head of the Department of Zoology.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was held on 27th February 2026. The Chief Guest, Dr. Venkatesh Devanur, CEO of Agrilife and Managing Director of Phytopharma India Limited, Hyderabad, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of innovation, sustainable agricultural practices, and scientific research in building a better future. The Guest of Honour, B. Subhash Chandar, Grassroots Entrepreneur and CEO of Creative Minds, inspired the participants by sharing insights on grassroots innovations and practical solutions for real-world problems.

A special attraction of the workshop was the innovation exhibition conducted in collaboration with Palle Srujana, a non-governmental organization that promotes grassroots innovations. As part of this exhibition, eight grassroots innovators showcased their unique and practical inventions, providing students with an opportunity to interact with the innovators and understand the real-life applications of science and technology.

Several competitions were organized for students as part of the workshop to encourage creativity and scientific exploration. These included Poster Presentation on the theme Innovate Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow, PowerPoint Presentation on Quantum Computing – The Future of Modern Science, Science Quiz, and Science Projects. Total participation included 10 colleges (including SPACES), with 180 students from other colleges and 368 students from SPACES.Each participating college was allowed a maximum of three teams per event with three members in each team.

The valedictory ceremony was conducted on 28th February 2026, marking the conclusion of the workshop. During this ceremony, the winners of the competitions were announced and awarded. Cash prizes were distributed, with ₹3000 for winners and ₹1500 for runners-up in each event.

The two-day workshop provided a valuable platform for students to learn, innovate, and showcase their talents. The expert talks, competitions, and the grassroots innovation exhibition greatly enriched the participants’ knowledge and encouraged them to think creatively about sustainable solutions for the future.

SciQuest 2026 was a grand success and served as an inspiring initiative to promote scientific awareness, innovation, and sustainable development among students.

SPACES Degree College (A), Payakaraopeta organized an awareness program on 27th April 2026 to educate students about cybercrimes and online safety. The program was conducted in collaboration with the police department under the directions of District Superintendent of Police, Tuhin Sinha. Police officials actively participated in the sessions, providing valuable insights into cyber safety and legal awareness. The primary objective of the program was to address the increasing risks associated with internet usage, particularly among college students, and to promote responsible digital behaviour.

400 students and 20 faculty members participated in the program. To make the sessions more interactive and impactful, a mobile digital awareness vehicle equipped with a display screen was utilized. Through this medium, students were shown visual presentations and real-life examples of cybercrimes, helping them better understand the seriousness and consequences of online threats.

During the sessions, police officials explained various forms of cybercrimes, including online fraud, social media misuse, and cyber harassment. They also highlighted important preventive measures such as protecting personal information, using strong and secure passwords, and being cautious while interacting with unknown individuals online.
The program emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities promptly and assured students that legal assistance is available for victims of cybercrimes. It also highlighted that adopting simple safety practices can significantly reduce exposure to digital risks.

The initiative was well received by students, faculty, and staff. It effectively enhanced awareness, strengthened understanding of cyber safety, and encouraged students to practice safe and responsible internet usage. Such initiatives play a crucial role in building a safer and more informed digital community.

SPACES Degree College (Autonomous), Payakaraopeta, under its Centre for Excellence in association with the Department of Zoology, successfully conducted a two-day workshop on Mushroom Cultivation and Hands-on Training.

On 21.04.2026 ,the first day focused on building foundational knowledge, covering the importance of mushrooms, their nutritional benefits, and economic value. Students were introduced to different types of mushrooms, including button, oyster, milky, and paddy straw, along with their specific cultivation methods.

On 22.04.2026, the second day was dedicated entirely to hands-on training. Participants actively engaged in practical sessions involving substrate preparation, spawning techniques, and basic cultivation practices, gaining direct experience in mushroom production.

The workshop effectively combined theory with practice, enabling students to understand both the scientific and entrepreneurial aspects of mushroom cultivation. The program witnessed active participation and highlighted the importance of skill-based learning and self-employment opportunities.

SPACES Degree College (A), Payakaraopeta, organized a Clean & Green Drive on 17th April 2026 as part of the Swachch Andhra Pradesh – Swarna Andhra initiative and the centenary celebrations of Andhra University. The program was conducted with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible civic behavior among students.

The drive was led by NSS Program Officers Mr. G.T. Naidu and Mr. P. Bhaskararao, who guided the NSS volunteers and ensured the smooth execution of all activities.

All Volunteers actively participated in the drive with great enthusiasm. The activities included campus cleaning, sapling plantation, and awareness campaigns focusing on waste segregation and the importance of reducing plastic usage. The initiative reflected the students’ commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

The program also highlighted the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, emphasizing the role of collective action in nation-building. Through slogans, posters, and active involvement, students contributed meaningfully to spreading awareness about maintaining a clean and green environment.

The event not only enhanced the cleanliness and greenery of the campus but also instilled a sense of pride among participants for contributing to a socially significant cause during the historic centenary year of Andhra University.

The program concluded successfully, reinforcing the importance of community participation in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable society.

SPACES Degree College (A), Payakaraopeta, organized a rally in Payakaraopeta to celebrating the centenary of Andhra University. The event was conducted with the objective of honoring the university’s remarkable legacy and its contributions to education over the past 100 years.

The event commenced with an address by Principal Dr. A.R.K. Reddy, who spoke to the students about the significance of the occasion and the rich legacy of Andhra University. Following his address, the rally was formally flagged off.

A total of 150 students and 20 faculty members actively participated in the rally. The participants marched through the main streets of Payakaraopeta with great enthusiasm, holding placards and raising powerful slogans such as “Saluting 100 Years of Academic Brilliance!”, “Andhra University – Our Pride, Our Inspiration!”, “Celebrating the Past, Inspiring the Future!”, and “100 Years Strong, Forever Inspiring!”

The rally created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, drawing the attention of the public and spreading awareness about the glorious journey of Andhra University. Faculty members guided the students throughout the event, ensuring discipline and active participation.

The program concluded successfully, leaving the participants with a deep sense of pride and respect for Andhra University’s century-long legacy of excellence.

(A Transformative Seminar on Personality Development and Leadership – 16th April 2026)

An awareness seminar on personality development and leadership qualities was conducted at SPACES Degree College (A), Payakaraopeta, on 16th April 2026. The program was organized for first-year students with the objective of enhancing their understanding of essential leadership traits and personal development.

The seminar was graced by Mr. Ramesh Batavia, Master Business School Coach from Salahakar Learning Academy, Bengaluru. Mrs. Asha Jain, a coach, soft skills trainer, and entrepreneur, also accompanied him and conducted a session for another batch of students on the same topic. Students actively participated and benefited from the expert guidance.

The program was conducted in four sessions to ensure effective interaction and learning. In the morning, two sessions were handled by the experts for different batches, followed by two more sessions in the afternoon, making it a comprehensive and engaging event.

During the seminar, the speakers elaborated on key leadership qualities required for personal and professional success. They emphasized the importance of courage, effective communication skills, self-confidence, empathy, and continuous skill development. The resource persons also shared ten important principles for leadership development, including appreciating others, positive response, developing a questioning attitude, politeness, respect, clear expression of thoughts, supporting others in difficult times, understanding others, maintaining good health, discipline, and continuous learning.

The sessions were enriched with practical examples and interactive activities, which helped students gain deeper insights into personality development and leadership.

The program was attended by the Joint Secretary of the institution, Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash; Director HR, Dr. V.V.S.B. Bangarraju; Principal, Dr. A.R.K. Reddy; IQAC Coordinator, Dr. A.K. Tripathy; Vice Principal, Sri P.Ch.V. Subbarao; along with other faculty members.

The Department of Agriculture, SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) organized an interactive session on “Untapped Opportunities in Agriculture” with the objective of enhancing students’ awareness of emerging academic and career prospects in the agricultural sector. The programme was designed to expose students to contemporary developments and future opportunities beyond conventional agricultural practices.

The session was delivered by Mr. Ch. Bhavani Sankar, Master of Agricultural Biotechnology, who is presently working as a Research Executive at The University of Queensland, Australia. A proud alumnus of SPACES Degree College (Batch 2015–2018), Mr. Sankar’s interaction with students was both inspiring and informative, reflecting his academic journey and professional experience at the international level.

Addressing the I B.Sc. Agriculture and Rural Development students, the speaker shared valuable insights on the expanding scope of agriculture, highlighting areas such as research, biotechnology, higher education, and global career opportunities. He emphasized the need for students to develop a research-oriented mindset, strengthen subject knowledge, and acquire relevant skills to meet the changing demands of the agricultural sector.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the question-and-answer segment, seeking guidance on career planning, higher studies, and research opportunities. The speaker’s practical suggestions and real-life experiences helped students gain clarity and confidence regarding their future academic and professional paths.

In recognition of his contribution, Dr. A. R. K. Reddy, Principal, and Dr. A. K. Tripathy, Head of the Department of Agriculture, felicitated Mr. Ch. Bhavani Sankar with a Book Memento as a token of appreciation. The programme was attended by the faculty members of the Department of Agriculture, whose presence contributed to the success of the event.

I B.Sc. Agriculture and Rural Development and I B.Sc. Zoology and II B.Sc. Zoology Students of SPACES Degree College (A)  participated   in the Farmers–Traders Conclave on Arecanut Cultivation, Value Addition and Marketing, held at Bhavani Garden, Vemulapalli, Mandapeta Mandal, on Monday.

The conclave was organised by Sri Prakash Ayush Charitable and Research Trust, Payakaraopeta, Anakapalli District, with a focus on sustainable arecanut cultivation, value addition and strengthening market linkages. This event brought together agricultural experts, government officials, traders and progressive farmers to discuss sustainable farming practices and market-oriented approaches aimed at improving farm incomes. A major highlight of the programme was the release of the book “Srujanaatmaka Raithu”, which documents the life and contributions of noted farmer Sri Dorayya Chowdary.  The book was formally launched by the Chief Guest, Sri Chiranjivi Choudhary, Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Food Processing and Industries Department, in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr. P. Chowdappa, Former Director, Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod.

Addressing the gathering, renowned arecanut cultivators and Adarsha Raithu awardees Sri Davuluri Vijaya Saradhi, Sri Chakrapani, Sri Leela Prasad, Sri Vijay Kumar and Sri Ugranarasimham shared their experiences on innovative cultivation practices, farm management and marketing strategies.

The participation enabled the students to gain practical exposure through interaction with experts, progressive farmers and traders, thereby strengthening the link between academic learning and real-world agricultural practices.

On the occasion of the 195th Birth Anniversary of Savitribai Phule, the Women Empowerment Cell of SPACES Degree College (Autonomous), Payakaraopeta, organized a commemorative session titled “Role of Savitribai Phule in Women Empowerment and Social Equality” on 3rd January 2026.

The session was delivered by the college alumna Smt. A. Aparna, who is currently serving as the Headmistress of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan (CBSE), Payakaraopeta. The programme aimed to honour the life, vision, and enduring legacy of Savitribai Phule, a pioneer of women’s education and social reform in India.

In her address, Smt. A. Aparna elaborated on Savitribai Phule’s pioneering role in promoting women’s education and her relentless fight against social inequalities, caste discrimination, and gender bias. She highlighted how Savitribai Phule’s progressive ideas and courageous actions continue to inspire efforts toward women empowerment and social justice in contemporary society.

She also spoke about the well dug by Savitribai Phule for public use and the difficulties she faced as a teacher. At a time when many were denied basic rights, Savitribai Phule opened the well to all and worked for girls’ education despite facing insults and opposition. Even in the face of these challenges, she continued her work with courage and dedication, inspiring everyone.

The speaker further shared reflections from her own educational journey, motivating students to recognize the transformative power of education and the responsibility it carries in building an inclusive and equitable society. The session proved to be both enlightening and inspiring for the students and faculty members present.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. It concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the alumna speaker for her inspiring session and to the Women Empowerment Cell for successfully organizing the event. The celebration of Savitribai Phule’s 195th Birth Anniversary reaffirmed the college’s commitment to promoting the values of equality, education, and social empowerment.

On 11th December 2025, the NCC cadets of 3(A) Girls Battalion and 18(A) Boys Battalion from SPACES Degree College (A) organized a Food Donation Programme at Sai Annapoorna Old-Age Home, Tuni, with the noble objective of serving the elderly and spreading compassion in society.

The cadets actively participated in the distribution of freshly prepared food to the inmates of the old-age home. They also interacted warmly with the elderly residents, expressing care, respect, and empathy. This meaningful interaction helped the cadets develop values such as social responsibility, humanity, and selfless service.

The staff and residents of Sai Annapoorna Old-Age Home expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the NCC cadets and the institution for their benevolent gesture and dedicated service. The programme truly reflected the NCC motto “Unity and Discipline” and strengthened the spirit of community service among the cadets.

Overall, the Food Donation Programme was a meaningful and fulfilling service activity, leaving a lasting impact on both the cadets and the beneficiaries.

SPACES Degree College(A),  celebrated the 78th NCC Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The event was graced by the chief guest, Major K. Mohammed Asif, Commanding Officer of 18 (A) Battalion NCC, Kakinada, the celebrations were further elevated by the presence of Joint Secretary, Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, along with the Principals of Sri Prakash institutions, ANOs, staff members, and students. 

The programme began with the ceremonial flag hoisting. At the outset, the National Flag was hoisted by Major Asif sir, the NCC Flag by Joint Secretary, Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash and the Sri Prakash Flag by the Principals. After that, a grand parade of NCC cadets from different organisations of Sri Prakash showcased their discipline, precision, and dedication. 
Followed by the parade NCC cadets exhibited their discipline and teamwork through impressive formations and pyramid displays.

Cultural performances by NCC cadets further added to the festive spirit of the event, displaying a blend of rich traditions, modern creativity. The performances reflected the spirit and values of NCC.

The Chief Guest took the opportunity to recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of various cadets above all V. Ramya Sri, III BSc who represented Andhra University at the All India Thal Sainik Camp which was a remarkable achievement. In this context, she was awarded a medal and a cash prize. Various competitions were conducted and the winners were given away prizes by the dignitaries

The 78th NCC Day celebrations were a resounding success, reflecting the spirit of dedication, discipline, and patriotism that the NCC embodies.
