Biogas Can Ensure a Sustainable Future: Dr. Gangagni Rao

An awareness conference on biogas and sustainable energy was successfully organized on 16th December 2025, at SPACES Degree College (A). The program aimed to create awareness among students about renewable energy sources and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Gangagni Rao, Scientist from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. During his interaction with students, Dr. Rao explained in detail the process of biogas production and its wide range of applications. He emphasized that generating biogas from waste is one of the most effective and eco-friendly renewable energy solutions.

Dr. Rao highlighted that waste materials from dairy units, agricultural activities, and pharmaceutical industries can be used as low-cost raw materials to produce biogas without causing harm to the environment. He further explained that biogas production not only generates organic fertilizer, but also produces electricity and fuel for vehicles, thereby converting waste into valuable resources. He stated that biogas has the potential to transform waste into wealth.

Addressing the students, Dr. Gangagni Rao noted that the biogas sector offers significant employment opportunities for youth and plays a crucial role in the nation’s development and the achievement of a sustainable future.

The program was attended by Secretary and Correspondent Sri C. H. V. K. Narasimha Rao, Chairman Dr. Kantipudi Narendrababu, Principal Dr. A. Ramakrishna Reddy, Director of the Centre for Excellence Mr. Nagesh Kumar, along with faculty members, students, and staff.

Campus Interviews by Hetero Drugs Pharma Company at SPACES Degree College

Campus interviews were conducted on 26-11-2025 (Wednesday) at SPACES Degree College, Payakaraopeta  by Hetero Drugs Pharma Company, Hyderabad.

Around 100 students pursuing and having completed Final Year B.Sc, M.Sc Chemistry, B.Pharmacy, and M.Pharmacy from various colleges of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada districts attended the interviews.

HR Executives Mr. G. Raju & Mr. C.H. Manikanta shared a detailed overview of Hetero Drugs Pharma Company with the participating students. They also explained the company’s procedures and rules, and clearly outlined the selection process. As part of the recruitment procedure, online written tests and HR rounds were conducted.

A total of 30 students were selected to work in the Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Production departments of Hetero Drugs Pharma Company, as announced by College Principal Dr. A. Ramakrishna Reddy.

The selected students were congratulated by Secretary & Correspondent Sri C.H.V.K. Narasimha Rao and Joint Secretary Sri C.H. Vijay Prakash.

From Molecule to Medicine — A session by Dr.K.M.V.Narayana Rao, NATCO Pharma, that bridged theory with innovation.

An expert lecture on Drug Development and Characterization was conducted on 24th November 2025 at SPACES Degree College (Autonomous) by Dr. K.M.V. Narayana Rao, Vice President and Head of Analytical R&D at NATCO Pharma, Hyderabad. He explained the stages of drug discovery, the importance of analytical research in ensuring drug safety and efficacy, and introduced techniques such as titrimetry, thermal analysis and loss on drying. He elaborated on the use of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) in studying melting points, phase transitions and energy changes to determine formulation stability.
Dr. Rao highlighted that well-defined specifications act as quality standards and must align with ICH guidelines or pharmacopeial requirements like USP, EP and JP. Analytical techniques must be selected based on manufacturing processes, the nature of the substance and the likelihood of impurity formation, ensuring precision, sensitivity and specificity in testing. He also discussed industry expectations and encouraged students to explore research and development opportunities.
The session was highly informative and successfully bridged academic concepts with practical industrial applications. Participants actively interacted during the Q&A segment and appreciated the speaker’s insights. The session added value to students’ understanding of pharmaceutical characterization and contributed to enhancing research orientation.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO HETERO PHARMACEUTICALS

On 19th April 2024, students from SPACES Degree College embarked on an enriching industrial visit to collaborated industry “Hetero Pharmaceuticals”. This visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and operations.
Guided by knowledgeable professionals, the students embarked on a comprehensive tour of the manufacturing facility. They observed various stages of the pharmaceutical production process including formulation, quality control, packaging and distribution. The tour provided students with a firsthand understanding of the meticulous processes involved in ensuring product quality and safety.
Students actively participated asking insightful queries and gaining valuable insights from the experts.

Visit to EMNAR Pharmaceuticals

On 30th March 2024, students from the Department of Chemistry of SPACES Degree College visited EMNAR Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd in Lankelapalem, Visakhapatnam. 
Led by General Manager Mr. Sivareddy, the visit provided students with a firsthand understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, quality control measures and regulatory compliance. Through this experience, students gained valuable insights into potential career paths in the pharmaceutical industry, enhancing their academic learning and fostering a deeper appreciation for the industry's role in healthcare advancement.

AN INTERACTIVE SESSION ON DRUGS SALES & MARKETING – SYSTOPIC PHARMA (12.02.2024)

An interactive session on Drugs Sales & Marketing was organized by SPACES Degree College on 12th February 2024 in collaboration with Systopic Pharma Ltd. The session aimed to provide students with insights into the pharmaceutical industry and its marketing dynamics. Sri M. Venkata Ramana, Zonal Sales Manager, SYSTOPIC Pvt. Laboratory Limited, New Delhi, was the speaker of the day.
Sri M. Venkata Ramana, with his extensive experience as a Zonal Sales Manager, brought valuable insights into the pharmaceutical sales and marketing domain. Approximately 150 students actively participated in the session, demonstrating keen interest in the subject matter. The guest speaker actively engaged with students, addressing their queries and dispelling doubts regarding various aspects of drug sales and marketing. The session provided a platform for an enlightening discussion on the intricacies of pharmaceutical sales strategies, market dynamics, and regulatory considerations.  Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary of Sri Prakash Educational Society, appealed to the students to make use of the session to enhance the opportunities in the field of Pharmaceutical. Dr. K. The interactive session proved to be highly beneficial for the student. It helped to enhance the practical thinking of the students.
