Field visit to Hatcheries
As part of their academic curriculum, III BSc BZC and Biotechnology students visited Avanti Hatcheries, Gudiwada on 28-08-2024. The objective of the visit is to provide the students with practical exposure on Hatchery operations and management.
The visit has enabled the students to observe and learn about the different stages of larval development in prawn culture. Sri V.N. Kumar, Manager of Avanti hatcheries, explained about each stage from the initial seed to the post larval stage. One of the critical aspects covered during the visit was the identification and management of diseases that can contaminate the larvae Sri Kumar garu explained various precautionary measures to follow to ensure healthy growth of larvae. The students expressed their satisfaction with the visit. All the students utilized the opportunity with great enthusiasm. It has enhanced their understanding of aquaculture concepts. This educational field visit helped them with a comprehensive understanding of prawn culture and various challenges associated with it.
