Vision:
To make Biochemistry the most preferred and lucrative career options for students through providing high quality education
To be a centre of excellence in the discipline of biochemistry.
Mission:
Department is committed to create a genuine interest to develop and enhance the optimum academic environment to prepare professional graduates in the field of biochemistry.
Department is committed to create a genuine interest to develop and enhance the optimum academic environment to prepare professional graduates in the field of biochemistry.
To obtain an outstanding education through critical thinking quantitative analysis, intensive experimental based learning activities and prepare them to be lifelong learners.
To provide exposure to the students about the latest tools and technologies in the area of biochemistry.
Biochemistry is the study of biological phenomena at the molecular level. Its aim is to understand the fundamental chemical principles that govern complex biological systems. The major focuses include the basics in Biophysical Chemistry, Biomolecules, Enzymes and Bioenergetics, Intermediary Metabolism for Botany and Zoology graduates, while for biotechnology students the major thrust areas include Physical aspects of Biochemistry, Biomolecules, Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism
The department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1994 and since then it has offered B.Sc Biochemistry. to impart extensive proficiency in Biochemistry to the student community. The Department offers an affable environment for knowledge improvement, training and for individual development.
The primary objectives of the course are:-
1) To give students a solid foundation in biological chemistry.
2) To develop analytical and critical-thinking skills that allow independent exploration of biological phenomena through the scientific method.
3) To introduce students to modern methods of biochemical experimentation within the disciplines of biochemistry and molecular biology.
Scope:
Biochemistry is a discipline that offers a challenging environment, and in return nurtures the candidate's future. The curriculum is framed in such a way that will allow students to develop knowledge and gain expertise to meet demands of voluminous opportunities at various capacities in diagnostic, research institute and pharmaceutical companies.
The department of Biochemistry is a vibrant and ambitious division of the college with qualified academic staff and students. The department is a very successful unit of the college which is firmly committed to excellence both in research and teaching. The department adopts an integrated approach embracing the view that tomorrow's breakthrough are likely to occur at the interface of traditional biological sub-divisions. A degree in Biochemistry is the first step towards a wide variety of careers options in pharmaceutical industries, food industries, in hospital services, and in many biological and medical research divisions.
- Well Experienced, Dedicated Faculty with Doctoral Degree.
- Good Infrastructure and well equipped Laboratory.
- Student centred Education by using ICT tools.
- Regular conduction of Field trips and l Tours to enrich Knowledge of the students.
- Achievement of cent percent (100%) results in most of the semester Examinations.
- Most of the students relieved from the Department, are pursuing Higher Education in reputed national and international Institutions
